Restaurant Jing Xuan Hong Kong Dim Sum 锦选香港点心

It’s been a long time the bears have not put their paws on some Dim Sum,
So on the 55th Independence Day,
Brown Bear took White Bear to their all time favourite Dim Sum eatery,
Jing Xuan Hong Kong Dim Sum 锦选香港点心

Some of the steamed Dim Sum they ordered,

From left to right : Siew Mai, Ha Gao,
Fishball, Some rolls(Don’t know its name)
Spring rolls

The bears only ordered two fried Dim Sum as they were quite full,

Wu Kok and Fried Shrimps dipped in mayo sauce

In addition, the bears ordered two plates of these,

Chu Cheong Fun with prawns wrapped inside

Besides the usual dishes, this shop also offers an array of grilled chickens, ducks, and pork.

Fat bears think that they are quite pricey, have never ordered these.

The main reason this restaurant is one of fat bears’ favourite
is because there will always be big chunks of fresh prawns in the dishes,
substituting some of the pork, thus the dim sum taste much more fragrant
and provide better texture when munched.

There is no wonder this restaurant is always packed,
especially on weekends and public holidays.

The bill was around RM60, shared among three pax.
White Bear wondered when will be the next time
they come again as they stepped out of the restaurant…

Thai Thai @ Sunway Pyramid

Today is a special day,
as it is the anniversary of the fat bears (Bearniversary).
The far bears completely forgotten about it until late afternoon,
when White Bear sensed that there was something not quite right.

So as soon as they finished their day work,
they rush off to find a special restaurant to celebrate.
Then they bumped into the magical Thai Thai, Sawadeeka…

The fat bears ordered these:

Tom Yam Prawn Bowl (RM16)
Verdict : 2 big prawns in a very delicious TomYam soup,
sour and spicy, a bit sweet, though Brown Bear choked
when he was savouring the soup, he found the taste too heavy

Pineapple Prawn Fried Rice (RM17.90)
Verdict : Rice was really fried with fine pineapple shreds.
Taste nice but not memorable enough. Brown Bear loved it.

Stir fried Cashew with Chicken (RM17.90)
Verdict : Taste was just right, a bit spicy, with lots of cashew,
green pepper, mushrooms and onions.

Phad Thai (RM17.90)
Verdict : White Bear’s favourite!
Fried flat noodles (kuey teow), mix it with the vege and spices given,
and the taste was heavenly.

The drinks were pricey so the fat bears ordered a bottle of mineral water,
less than 300ml costs RM3, T.T

However, the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice,
especially the small corner the fat bears was given,
darkly romantic, xoxo, aiyooooo so sweet…

The bill was a whopping… just kidding, RM70 included tax
after a 15% discount from CIMB credit card.

The fat bears loved the Bearniversary dinner, aroy….!

Lemongrass Restaurant @ Mines Shopping Fair

After the fat bears found the perfect container,
they ventured off to find food and came across Lemongrass Restaurant.

The fat bears ordered two of their all time favourite dishes,

Penang Assam Laksa
Verdict : Lots of fish, cucumber, pineapple and onion,
the  taste might be to heavy for non-Malaysians.
But fat bears love it, 5 stars!

Kari Mee (Curry Noodles)
Verdict : Spicy curry soup with just the right amount of coconut milk.
Once again it has a very heavy taste of spices that some people may not
be able to accept. 5 stars!

Both of the noodles are timeless Malaysian classic cuisines.
Lemongrass is really a place to go for these authentic dishes,
fat bears have only one complaint, the portion is a bit small.
But they will definitely be back again!

The Search for Kiki’s home

Last Sunday (5th August),
the fat bears were scouring hypermarkets after hypermarkets for a container.
It has to be special, with transparent material, with a base that’s just right,
and high enough to make into a 2 storey playground, for White Bear’s hamster.
The box has to be DIY, because there wasn’t a cage with just the right size.
Finally they found one container costing RM30.

Construction of the first floor in the box have not yet been commissioned.

All the trouble was for this not-so-little
male Teddy bear Syrian hamster, Kiki.

Kiki was adopted from another owner.
The previous owner told White Bear that Kiki was female,
it turned out to be a male, a shy and timid one as well.
His previous cage was too small to accommodate him,
and he vent his frustration by biting the cage every single night.

Cage biting is dangerous and unhealthy to his teeth,
so there was a need to find a larger home for him.
Hopefully his home would be fitted with an additional floor soon.
What are you waiting for, Brown Bear? Get to work!

Sushi Zanmai @ 1 Utama

The bears visited Sushi Zanmai back in 2011, on the 6th of August,
after they heard recommendations from their pack to try that place, so off they went.

From left : Crab stick and Unagi Sushi
Verdict : Unagi Sushi was especially sweet and juicy,
the best the bears have tasted, to date.

Brown Bear, was not easily satisfied with a mere few plates of sushi,
so he ordered a bento,

Tempura Bento
Verdict : Tempura was soft and bland, not worth it,
somemore it’s stuffing with all the rice.

How could the bears be happy without having a taste of their beloved salmon..

Salmon Sushi Platter!
Verdict : This plate costs around RM 20, bit pricey.
But both bears loved it, it was fresh and fulfilling.

The bill was around RM 50.
The bears vowed to be back again, for the Unagi Sushi…..
maybe in a few years time.
