Dragon-i 龙的传人 @ One Utama

On 22nd Dec 2012, Christmas was approaching fast.
Although the bears don’t really celebrate Christmas,
but they do love the tradition of gift giving (at least WB do).
So off they went for a shopping trip to One Utama,
where BB will buy the items chosen by WB for herself and vice versa.

So to sum up the shopping trip,
BB bought a dress and a skirt for WB of her choice (<RM100)
WB bought two shirts for BB of WB choice as well (RM70)
Thank you very much.

So, naturally the bears were hungry and were prowling the mall for food…
and they scanned the whole mall (directory) and decided on..
Dragon-i !!!

They serve this once you sit down, so Chinese.

BB have never had 小龙包 (small steamed buns/soup dumplings) before,
so they must give it a try!

小龙包 (small steamed buns/soup dumplings)
Verdict : Very very nice, the soup inside was the best!
BB loves the sweet porky soup and meat.
RM 9

And next, they ordered these,
20121222_154353
四川麻辣口水鸡 (Szechuan Cold Spicy Chicken)
Verdict : Very very spicy, BB was on fire.
The chicken was served cold, and a good choice too.
If it was hot, the bears would have spontaneously combusted.
This dish is best served with a bowl of white rice.
RM 16

20121222_154936
黑椒海鲜炒刀削面 (Black Pepper Seafood fried with Knive-shaved Noodles)
Verdict : Waaaaaaaaaaa! WB loves this!
Just the right amount of black pepper to make the dish spicy,
with lots of green bell pepper, squids, prawns, and small fish fillets.
RM16

20121222_160223
四川蟹肉酸辣羹 (Szechuan Crabmeat Soup)
Verdict : It was too sour (from vinegar)
The bears don’t really like this one.
RM 16

BB was so taken by the 小龙包 that he wanted to order another one,
but WB was too stuffed to down any other food..
So they proceeded to pay the bill at the counter,
and the bill was RM80++!

BB was so unhappy with the last dish (四川蟹肉酸辣羹)
that he vowed next time he comes here,he will only order the 小龙包.
Sure, like you can actually stop yourself.

Pasta Zanmai @ Paradigm Mall

Paradigm mall has become the preferred mall of the fat bears lately.
Mainly because they have Tesco, a lot of restaurants, and of course,
boutiques for the avid shopper WB.

So on 15th Dec 2012, BB’s old friend came to visit him from Singapore.
They talked and talked in length, and finally got hungry.
So the bears treated their friend to Pasta Zanmai in Paradigm Mall.

The menu was quite extensive, here it is,
pasta
They serve fusion pasta, pizza, set meals, and all sorts of ice cream.

The fat bears ordered these for themselves,
20121215_171832
Half-Cooked Salmon topped with Sesame Sauce
Verdict : It was ok, not really memorable, the salmon was overcooked.
In fact if you’d asked WB, she could not recall the taste of this dish at all.

20121215_172111
Mixed Seafood Tomato Pasta
Verdict : BB said it was good, it’s good.

The old friend ordered this,
20121215_172231
Chicken and Japanese Mushroom Cream Sauce Pasta
Verdict : The old friend said it was ok, the bears tasted the chicken on top,
they were so so.

After the meal, they talked and talked in further length some more,
sustained by this pot of green tea,
20121215_171631
WB loves the tea pot and the cup, so adorable.

After they have exhausted all topics, it was time to say goodbyes.
The bill was a whopping RM 75, BB foot the bill and exclaimed,
“So not worth it, never coming back.”

Movie Marathon Day

( On 11th Dec 2012)

Brown Bear has been working his round ass off lately,
and he longed for a day to have fun and forget about all his worries.
So off the bears went to TGV to catch up on the recent good movie releases.
Why TGV? Because movie ticket is a flat rate of RM10 for Citibank Card holders!

After much discussion, they settled on watching Rise of the Guardians,
and later on, Life of Pi (White Bear has been waiting for this for a long time).

Rise of the Guardians was nice, though it’s more of a kiddy movie.
But the story holds a deeper message => what’s your center?
your core, your purpose in life.
All in all, not a bad movie after all, worth it.

After the movie, WB got hungry, and they went for lunch at Subway.
Lunch was good, very filling, and inexpensive as the bears have the
buy 1 free 1 voucher, muahahaha..

Next, the bears went for a walk around the mall to digest their lunch,
and then went back to the cinema for Life of Pi.
The beauty of Life of Pi, is that it makes you think,
because it provides a space for viewers to imagine,
thus not everyone will draw the same meaningful conclusion from the story.
That is what makes it special.
life-of-pi
WB thinks this is the Movie of the Year
The song at the beginning of the movie, Pi’s Lullaby, is especially beautiful.

White Bear’s favourite scene from the movie,
life_of_pi_8
it reminds WB of the feeling when she is petting her naughty dog, Amber.
Actually the whole movie, Richard Parker reminded WB of Amber.
Feisty, possessive, yet dependent.

What do the fat bears derived from Life of Pi?
The saddest thing in life is never having the chance to say goodbye to your loved ones.

After the short movie marathon, the bears went for dinner at
a famous steamboat buffet near their dwellings, Hai Tang, in Serdang.

What follows was messy, conclusion is, it’s good, if you like steamboat + grill
you should go try it.

Thus, endeth a happy day for the bears.

Sakae Sushi @ Mines Shopping Fair

White Bear knows this post is long overdue but still it needs to be recorded down.
On 7th of September the bears visited Sakae Sushi for dinner,
after going around and around in Mines with no idea where to have their dinner.

They sat down in Sakae and ordered some rice,
as they are not keen on trying the sushi creation here as the last
time they visited, it wasn’t that nice.

So these are the items the bears ordered,
IMG_0925
Curry Chicken Don
Verdict : Brown bear favourite, surprisingly nice, worth it.

IMG_0933
Teriyaki Chicken Don
Verdict : Lots of onions, tasted very Chinese,
but it was also surprisingly nice

Being bears, how could they leave without ordering some Salmon!
IMG_0934
Nice fresh salmon slices!
Love the golden plate, really want to sneak it home!

Proof that this IS Sakae Sushi!

Overall, it was quite nice, the bears might be tempted to be back again,
but they still prefer Zanmai, not really sure why…

Thai Up @ Mines Shopping Fair

The weekend started on a rainy Friday evening,
the bears headed out to Mines for some Thai food which they have
planned to try when they were eating at Bar.B.Q Plaza the other day.
Besides that, they had another good reason as well,
to visit the Big Bad Wolf Books Sales after dinner.

The menu at Thai Up was limited,
the bears chose to have the set dinner that came with
3 dishes, 2 rice and 2 drinks.
Being fat bears, they ordered another appetizer,
Seafood Otak-Otak.

First the drinks arrived, they’re iced lemon tea.
20121207_202856

Then came the main dishes,
20121207_203143
Seafood Tom Yum
Verdict : It was ok, not very thick, not very sour like the ones from
Kampung Lobak and Thai Thai, nothing spectacular.

20121207_203226
Mixed Vege
Verdict : Fat bears loved this but wasn’t sure if this qualifies as
a Thai dish as it tasted quite Chinese

20121207_203409
Spicy Chicken
Verdict : Sweet spicy sour chicken pieces, it was good
but the portion was just too small for the bears

20121207_204401Seafood Otak-otak (side dish/appetizer)
Verdict : chunks of fish and crab meat in very very appetizing paste,
this is the best dish of the dinner, yum!

The bill was around RM40.
It was good but not memorable besides the Seafood Otak.
And the bears headed to the Big Bad Wolf after the meal
in MIECC, it is huge!!!!!
20121207_220158

The bears wandered around in the books maze for 3 hours
and left with some fun encyclopaedias, no fictional books
because White Bear prefers ebook now. But White Bear did
bought some cute kids book for her cute little bear nephew.
White Bear promised Brown Bear they would only come here once.
But deep down, White Bear knows… she will be back… for more kids books…
