Amarin Heavenly Thai @ Mid Valley Megamall

Nom nom nom nom…… The bears are hungry again.
This time they crave for the heavenly taste of Thai food…

…. in Amarin Heavenly Thai! (23rd Nov 2013)

Amarin is located in Mid Valley, one floor above the restaurant that Aunty Kwan runs.
The setting is dark and mysterious, yet warm and welcoming.

Food… food…! but first, let’s have a drink…

Amarin blended Coconut – simply heavenly, must try!

CYMERA_20131226_151419
Thai Fish cakes – truly fish filled cakes, a wee bit spicy, very fufilling.

CYMERA_20131226_151400
Pandan leaf Chicken – Fried too dry, not juicy and lots of non-chicken filling, but overall was ok.

Kangkung Belacan – how could the BB leave the restaurant without ordering this dish… it was good though.

Tom Yam bowl (with milk) – small portion (1 pax), nice aroma, excellent taste, not too milky or watery,
just what Tom Yam should be like!

The bill was around RM80+ for 2 bears.
With full and round bellies, the bears have given the verdict : will be back again!

Absolute Thai @ The Gardens Mall

On the 16th of December, WB had a Xmas dinner with her colleagues.
To suit the need of the team manager, who has an addiction to anything sweet and sour,
they chose Absolute Thai in the Gardens, which is nearby to the office.

There was  a total of 12 people in the team, thus, much food must be ordered!

For starters, they went for an assorted plate of appetizers

Fishcakes, spring rolls, fried dumplings & etc, they were nice.

Then the main course…
CYMERA_20131226_141755
Pandan leave chickens – juicy and chewy, just right! better than Amarin’s.

CYMERA_20131226_141434
Green Curry chicken – very very spicy, few chicken bites and a lot of brinjals.

CYMERA_20131226_141646
Cashew nut chicken (forgets its name) – tasted like sweet and sour, nothing special.

CYMERA_20131226_141519   CYMERA_20131226_141543
Two big Tom Yam gung – left : with river prawns, right : usual. Both soup tasted so-so, the river prawns were mushy, not recommended, Amarin’s Tom Yum was much more memorable.

CYMERA_20131226_141612
Thai Chilli Siakap – Nice, although the taste was very similar to the sweet and sour fish

CYMERA_20131226_141730
Asparagus – Nice one but portion was too small, prawns in this dish are so fresh and tasty!

CYMERA_20131226_141708
Kailan – very nice as well, love the veg!

In total, the bill came up to RM700++ for 12 people!
But if you have CIMB card, you’ll get some discount.
However, WB still thinks that Amarin is much better!
